The Best Method for Healing your New Eyebrows

Now that you’ve got your eyebrows done, you want to know the best way to care for them and that aftercare starts immediately after your appointment.  While different PMU artists advise various forms of aftercare, STAY Cosmetics recommends a “dry healing” method.

1.)    Once you are finished with your service, you will be given a small envelope with an aftercare kit.  Once of the items in this kit is a packet of four healing wipes with cucumber and aloe vera.  You will want to set your alarm for one hour after you leave the spa and use the first wipe to gently swipe across each brow.  You will do this again three times, one hour apart.  This cleans any excess blood and lymph that may be coming through so that you don’t scab.

2.)    After your last wipe, you will begin dry healing for the next ten days.  That means no moisturizers or creams of any kind on your new brows.  You will want to avoid hot tubs and saunas and wear the visors included in your kit for showering.  If you happen to get them wet, pat dry with a clean towel and do not wipe.  You will also want to avoid sweating.  The salt from your sweat can push the pigment out and cause them to heal patchy.  Keep them as dry as possible and avoid the sun during these ten days.

3.)   On day three or four, your brows may seem to get darker and bolder.  Don’t panic and don’t try to “wash them off”.  This is a natural thing that happens in the healing process.  By day six of seven, you will begin to flake from the skin being dry.  Do NOT pick the dry skin.  If you happen to scab, allow it to go through it’s own process without picking it.  If you pick at it, you may pull pigment out and there will be a discolored patch in that area.  These things are difficult to fix, so let them go through their natural cycle for best results.

4.)   On day ten or so, you will get new skin and the real color that you will have long term will appear.  This is when you can start getting them wet, as long as scabbing is finished, and you should wear moisturizer and sunscreen to protect the fresh skin.  Make sure you book your six week perfecting service and if you feel there is anything to adjust, that will be the time to do so.

Ombre and Nano brows heal very nicely with this method.  Permanent make-up can offer time saving relief when it comes to specific areas of the face but without proper after care, the service can only do so much. Investing patience in your aftercare routine is just as important as the financial investment you’ve made for the service.
