Get Longer Life out of your Lash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are so light and easy to wear that it is very easy to forget about them.  AND you should, with the exception of a few easy rules.  The whole idea is to go as long as possible between appointments but to be honest, no one can look full after about three weeks because of our natural shedding cycle.  But, did you know that what you do immediately after your appointment can make a big difference?

1.)    Right after your appointment, when your tape has been removed, do not pull or stretch your lash line.  It may feel really good, but avoiding this may actually give you more time with your extensions.  Pulling your lashline to get relief from the pads or tape can cause uncured glue to lift which means that your extensions aren’t hugging your natural lashes as tightly.

2.)   Try not to get your lashes wet for the first twelve hours after your appointment.  This includes sweating, hot tubs, saunas, and facials.  Leaving the glue alone to cure for the first twelve hours is the best thing you can do.

3.)   Wash your lashes with a gentle foaming lash bath.  Keeping your lashes clean prevents dirt and oil from being trapped between your lashes.  Dirt and oi lead to the spread of bacteria and eventually leads to the loss of your natural lashes.  They will shed much sooner than they normally would.  Keeping your lashes clean and brushed keeps them healthy and full.

4.)   Avoid using gel eyeliners, cream eyeshadows and lash strips or clusters.  All of these things are extremely hard to remove from the lash line making it difficult to avoid the issues mentioned above.

5.)   Scheduled your lash fills for every three weeks.  The fuller you can keep your lashes, the more support you give them in between fills.  When the extensions are sparse, they have nothing to lean on and can get twisted and turned which can damage the follicle.

6.)   Wear sunglasses to avoid direct sun exposure and if you are in the pool or ocean, give your lashes a little bath after so that the chlorine or salt doesn’t stay on the lashes.  It’s also a good idea to rinse them after crying, since our tears contain a high amount of salt.

All of these things can seem overwhelming at first but are all items that are so much easier to get used to than all the things we have to do when we aren’t wearing lash extensions.  These things apply rather you’re wearing classic, volume or mega volme lashes.
