What You Need to Know about Lash Volume

A Breakdown of the Different Lash Volumes

So many lash clients get confused about which lash extension service they should book.  And, for good reason.  So many things should be considered when booking a lash appointment.  If your lashes are blond, you may need to have a lash tint before a full set so that when your own lashes, the new growth is not as visible.  However, you must consider your fills.  Will you want to tint your lashes every fill or at least every other?  If not, you may need to come in for a lash fill every couple of weeks to keep the blonde from showing.  Okay, it isn’t as crazy as all that and there are ways we can work around these things.

Let’s take a look at the different styles.

Megavolume

The megavolume lashes are great for anyone who has smaller, deep-set eyes.  These lashes help open and draw attention to this area of the face so that your make-up efforts are more minimized.  Megavolumes are also great for clients who have a different eye shape but want that look of eyeliner.   The top lash line is very dominant, but they can be as uniform or as wispy as you’d like.  They are done by making fans of various sizes out of lashes that weigh next to nothing.  If done correctly, the artist makes the fan by hand before applying each one (much easier than it sounds).  If an artist uses a pre-made fan, chances are your set will be too heavy from double the glue and they won’t look as customized for your eyes.  Only very experienced artists should do megavolume lashes.

Hybrid

Hybrid lashes are like a Russian volume in the way they look.  Fans are made the same way but less lashes are used, and they are often mixed with either lighter fans of varying weights or with classic lashes.  Hybrid lashes are very popular amongst people who have worn classic lashes but feel like they just need more.  Since classic lashes weigh more, a hybrid set is technically easier on your natural lashes.  They also last longer because of the support your get from the fans.  These are the best lashes for most eyes, especially if your looking for something wispy.

Classics

Classic lashes are a full set of lash extensions with one artificial lash applied to one of your natural lashes. They are very natural looking and can help lift droopy eyelashes because various curls can be used (as in all the other sets).  More glue is used than with the fans, making them a bit heavier but overall, if they are done correctly, the artist will choose a weight that is appropriate for your eyes.  These lashes look best on people who already have lots of eyelashes and just want to be free of eyelash curlers and mascara.

When in doubt, book a Hybrid set.  This will give you plenty of options and give the artist enough time to customize your lashes.  Happy Lashing!
